Viscount Falkland

Lucius Cary was born on the 8th May 1935. He is a British politician and hereditary peer.

Political Career[edit]

After succeeding his father as viscount in 1984, he sat in the House of Lords originally representing the Social Democratic Party, later joining the Liberal Democrats. After the reforms of the House of Lords under Tony Blair, Cary was elected to remain as one of the 92 hereditary peers. In 2011 he left the Liberal Democrats and now sits as a crossbencher. During his time in parliament he served on a number of committees. The first committee he sat on was the ‘Overseas Trade Committee’ which he sat on from 1984-86. He is currently serving on the Works of Art Committee.

Education[edit]

Lucius Cary was educated at Wellington College.
