Tariq Mahmood Ahmad, Baron Ahmad of Wimbledon
Tariq Mahmood Ahmad, Baron Ahmad of Wimbledon was born on 3rd April 1968. He is is a British Pakistani businessman and a Conservative member of the House of Lords.
Political career[edit]
Tariq was appointed to the role of Vice Chairman Conservative Party by David Cameron in 2008 and his brief covers the important area of cities and Communities. He has also been local councillor for Wimbledon since 2002 (LB Merton) for the Wimbledon Park ward. He is a Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Engagement and is currently working in several fields such as community partnerships, with special focus on the voluntary sector, management of grants to community groups, Chairing Grants Committee and Merton Compact Board, development of CDZs, ensuring licensing policy and its consequences work in the interest of all citizens, reducing the threat of crime and anti-social behaviour in Merton and working closely with Police and Community Safety partnerships. He is also a leader on community engagement, including Community Plan, and tackling youth offending. Another aim of his is to engage young people in the life of the community e.g. Youth Parliament and their responsibilities as part of the whole community.

He studied in London and is currently a Director of Marketing & Corporate Strategy at Sucden’s for marketing, corporate strategy and research areas. He has a business degree and he specialised in finance and investment.
