Péter Fülöp Kocsis

Péter Fülöp Kocsis was born on January 13, 1963, in Szeged, Hungary. He is currently the diocesan bishop of the Diocese of Hajdúdorog. He has also served as the apostolic governor of the Apostolic Exarchate of Miskolc.

Biography[edit]

In 1989, Peter Kocsis was ordained a priest. From 1990 to 1992, he taught at the Greek Catholic Primary School and High School in Hajdúdorog. He then went on to being a priest in Tornabarakony from 1992 to 1995. Kocsis joined the Benedictine monastery of Chevetogne in Belgium in 1995 to pursue a monastic life. In 1998, he passed his monastic vows and took the name Philip before the monastic bishop Solid Cross. In 2008, he was consecrated the bishop of Hajdúdorog.


Education[edit]

He attended the Greek Catholic Academy of Saint Atanáz and then went on to finishes his studies at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome.
