Michael Mullins

Michael Mullins was born on the 22 February 1953 in Galway. He is an Irish Fine Gael politician.

Political Career[edit]

Senator Michael Mullins was elected to the Seanad Éireann on the Cultural and Educational Panel in April 2011. He has been involved with Fine Gael since 1977, holding various officer roles at Branch, District and Constituency level. He was the Fine Gael Group Leader on Galway County Council and Chairperson of Galway County Council, 2006/07. He was first elected to Galway County Council in 1985 and has been re-elected on every occasion since. He also served as Chairman in 1992/93. Michael was the first councillor elected in Ireland in 2004, topping the poll in the Ballinasloe Electoral Area. He is Chairperson of the County Council's Ballinasloe Area Committee. He is also a member of the Western Regional Authority. His priorities as a member of Galway County Council were: provision of jobs in Ballinasloe, the development of Portiuncla Hospital, provision of a residential addiction treatment unit in East Galway, greater investment in provision of services for the disabled and investment in infrastructure in rural East Galway
