Michael Colreavy, Irish politician

Michael Colreavy lives with his wife Alice in Manorhamilton, County Leitrim. They have eight children, and five grandchildren. He was reared, educated and worked in Sligo, moving to Manorhamilton in 1981. He is regarded – even by his political opponents – as a representative with great commitment, integrity and ability.

Political career[edit]

Michael joined Sinn Féin in 1979 and was Branch Secretary of IMPACT Trade Union and President of Sligo Council of Trade Unions. He was first elected to Leitrim County Council in 1999, was Vice-Chairman in his first year and Chairman for 2000/01. He recently retired from his job with the HSE in order to concentrate all his energies on community representation. Michael was elected to the 31st Dáil in March 2011, and continues to represent the people of Sligo/North Leitrim, in addition to being Sinn Féin’s spokespersonon Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
