Menno Knip

Menno Knip (born on April 14th, 1947 in Leeuwarden) is a Dutch politician. He is a member of the Dutch Senate for VVD.

Political Career[edit]

From March 1st, 1998 until September 1st, 2009 Menno Knip was the mayor of Almelo. From 1999 until 2009 he was the president of the European Affairs Committee VVD Party. From February 1st, 1989 until March 1st, 1998, he was the mayor of Noordoostpolder. From February 1st, 1984 until February 1st, 1989 Knip was the mayor of Hasselt. From 1989 until 1995 he was a member of the VVD executive committee. From 1985 until 1989 he was also the chairman of the Board of the VVD at the Overijssel Province Central. Furthermore, he was the chairman of the VVD Defence Committee.

Education[edit]

Menno Knip studied Dutch law (Administrative Law (degree program)) at the University of Utrecht from 1970 until 1975. He did also officer training KMA (Royal Military Academy) in Breda from 1967 until 1981.
