Lord Wrigglesworth

Ian Wrigglesworth is a Liberal Democrat member of the House of Lords. He joined the House of Lords in September 2013 and currently a member of the Finance Bill Sub-Committee.

Political Career[edit]

He was MP for Teesside Thornaby and Stockton South between 1974 and 1987 and was one of the founder members of the SDP. Between 1978 and 1983 as a minister in the House of Commons, he sat on the European Legislation Committee.

Notable Work[edit]

He worked for National Giro Bank and at the Midland Bank before being elected to parliament. He was Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Panel of the Government’s Regional Growth Fund; Chairman of the Port of Tyne; founding Chairman of UK Land Estates; a Director of Tyne Tees Television; Chairman of the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. He was also Chairman of the Northern CBI.
