Karl Johannes Beermann

Karl Johannes Beermann was born on the 17th of November 1960 in Emsdetten. He has been a member of the German Federal Council for the Christian Democratic Union since 2008. He is a Saxon State Minister for Federal and European Affairs and Head of the Saxon State.

Political career[edit]

Between 1988 and 1990 he was a Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Youth, Family, Women and Health. From 1990 to 1992, he was an advisor in the state of Brandenburg and later of Sachsen. He was the Director of the Office of the Secretary-General of the CDU between 1992 and 1995. Between 1995 and 1999 he was a Counsellor of State for the senator of finances of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. From 1999 to 2003 he was the State Secretary for Federal and European Affairs and the representative of the Land Hesse for the Federation. Between 2003 and 2008 he was a partner of a law firm in Berlin.

Education[edit]

Beermann graduated from German secondary school in 1979 with the Abitur (A-Level). Between 1980 and 1985 he studied law and politics in München, Speyer und Münster. In 1990 he received his doctorate.

Notable work[edit]

He was a substitute Member of the Mediation Committee of the German Bundestag and the Federal Council Member of the German-Russian Friendship Group.
