Member of the Spanish Parliament (PSOE9

José María Barreda Fontes is a Spanish politician, member of the Spanish Socialist Worker's Party. He was born in Ciudad Real on February 4th, 1953.

Political Career

José María Barreda Fontes has performed different roles at the political level, mainly in the region of Castilla-La Mancha. He has been a city counselor, a deputy at the regional Parliament of Castilla-La Mancha (1987 - 2007), senator (1989 - 1991), President of Castilla-La Mancha's Parliament (1991-1999), Vicepresident (1999-2004) and President (2004-2011) of Castilla-La Mancha. He is currenly a Congress deputy after being elected in the General Elections that took place in 2011.

Education

José María Barreda holds a degree in Philosophy and Letters and a doctorate in Geography and History. He has been a Professor at the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
