Joël Bourdin

Joël Bourdin was born on the 25 January, 1938. He is a French politician who is a member of the Union pour un Mouvement Populaire (UMP).

Political Career[edit]

University professor by profession, he started his political career as mayor of Bernay in 1983 and held that position until 2003 when he was appointed Local Councillor until 2008. He has also been a member of the Board of Retirement Guidance, the Regional Councillor of Haute-Normandie and the President of the Community of Municipalities of Bernay and surroundings. Joël Bourdin was elected Senator from Eure in 1989 and re-elected in 1998 and 2008. In the Senate elections in September 2014, he has led a dissident list facing the united list between the UMP-UDI, albeit he was unsuccessful.
