Jens Böhrnsen

Jens Böhrnsen was born on the 12th of June 1949 in Bremen. He has been a member of the German Federal Council for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since 2005. Besides this he is President of the Senate, Senator for Ecclesiastical Affairs and Senator for Culture in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.

Political career[edit]

From 1978 to 1995 he worked as a judge. He was a member of the Bremen Parliament from 1995 until 2005. Besides, he was the chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1999 to 2005. He was a President of the Senate and Mayor and Senator for Church Affairs, Senator for Justice and Constitutional Affairs and Senate Commissioner for Data Protection from 2005 to 2007. He was the President of the Federal Council from 2009 to 2010.

Education[edit]

Böhrnsen graduated from German secondary school in 1968 with the Abitur (A-Level). Subsequently, he studied law at the University of Kiel.
