Franc Trček

Franc Trček (born January 3, 1961) is a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and a member of the United Left Deputy Group (Slovenian: Združena levica).

Political Career[edit]

He was appointed to the National Assembly in July 2014.

Professional Career[edit]

In the years 2005-2014, Trček held the position of Assistant Professor at Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana. From 2009 till 2011, he was the Head of the Department for Analytical Sociology at the same faculty and in 2014 he became Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology. Between the years 2009 and 2012, he worked as a Scientific Coordinator of FP7 Large-Scale Integrating Project CIVITAS.

In 2014, he is also a member of the Urban Lands Master Plan Commission of the Municipality of Maribor.

Education[edit]

Trček graduated in Analytical Sociology in 1994, completed his Master’s degree in 1997 and obtained PhD in Social Sciences in 2001 at the Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana. His doctoral thesis on the topic of socio-spatial implications of the Internet was awarded as the best doctorate in 2001
