Eric Byrne
Eric Byrne was born April 21st 1947, in Dublin. He is a member of the Labour Party and currently a Teachta Dála for the Dublin South-Central Costituency.
Political Career[edit]
Eric Byrne was a candidate for the first time with the Workers Party, in the 1977 general elections. He was first elected in 1985 to Dublin City Council. Since then, he has been re- elected to the Dáil. He served as a TD from 1989 to 1992 and again from 1994 to 1997. He was re-elected in 2011 to the Dáil. Eric was also elected Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin in July 2001.

Eric Byrne was educated at Synge Street CBS school and the Bolton Street College of Technology. A carpenter by trade before entering politics.
Notable Work[edit]
Eric Byrne serves on the Board of Crumlin Children’s Hospital, and is also the director of Treasure Tots Community Childcare, Ballyfermot, the Dublin 12 Childcare Consortium, and Chairperson of the Social Inclusion Measures (SIM) Group of the City Development Board.
He is also Chairperson of the Multi Agency Group for Labre Park, and was one of the founding members of the Rialto Policing Forum and the Fatima Mansions and Dolphin House Task Forces.
Eric Byrne has also been active in international relations, having served under the auspices of the OSCE as an International Monitor during the 1992 Palestinian Authority elections (based in Jenin) and in Bosnia and Herzegovina (based in Doboj) during the 1997 Registration of Electors. In December 2007, he served as a monitor during the Kyrgyz Republic pre-term parliamentary elections.
More recently, in February 2010, Eric was a Short Term Observer (STO) for OSCE/ODIHR in the Ukraine Presidential Election based in Donetsk.
