Dorothee Stapelfeldt

Dorothee Stapelfeldt, born in 1956, is a German politician, representative of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and member of the Hamburg Parliament.

Political Career[edit]

Since 1978, member of the SPD; 1994-2000 and 2004-2007 deputy state chairman of the Hamburg SPD; from 2000, Deputy Chairman of the Party Council of the SPD; 1986-2011 Member of the Hamburg Parliament; 1997-2000 parliamentary secretary of the SPD; 2000-2004 President of the Hamburg Parliament; 2008-2011 deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group; Since 2011 Deputy Mayor, Senator and President of the Ministry of Science and Research of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg; member of the Federal Council since 2011.

Education[edit]

She studied History of Art, Literary Criticism, and Social and Economic History at the University of Hamburg. In 1989, she earned a doctorate. She is married and has 2 children.
