Baroness Falkner of Margravine

Kishwer Faulkner was born on the 9th March 1955 in Pakistan. She represents the Liberal Democrats and is a life peer.

Political Career[edit]

Faulkner became a member of the Liberal Democrats in the mid-eighties. She stood as a Liberal Democrat candidate for the Kensington and Chelsea seat at the 2001 General Election. Although she failed to win she gained the highest ethnic minority vote for the Liberal Democrats in London. She has also featured on the Liberal Democrats list for London in the 2004 European parliament elections. During her time in parliament she was a member of the joint committee on Human Rights from 2004-2010. She currently serves on the joint committee for National Security Strategy. She became a member of the House of Lords on the 2nd June 2004.

Education[edit]

Falkner was educated at convent schools in Pakistan. She then went on to study at the London School of Economics in where she obtained a BSc in International Relations. She followed this up by studying an MA in International Relations and European Studies at the University of Kent.
