Jean Arthuis is a member of the Senate of France, within the group UDI - UC, Union of Democrats and Independents and for the constituency of Mayenne, in the region "Pays de la Loire". He has been member of Senate, with different pauses, since his election in 1983.

Biography and Political Career[edit]

Jean Arthuis was born in 1944 and he is a professional accountant. He has been member of the Council of Finance, member of the annual Conference on Public Finance, member of the annual economic Conference, member of the National Committee on Euro, Mayor of Château-Gontier, President of the Centre-Union Group, president of the Commission on Finance, as well as Minister for Economic Development from May 1995 to August 1995 and Minister for Economy and Finance from August 1995 to June 1997.
