Wilfried Vandaele was born on the 5th of February 1964 in Bruges. He is a Flemish politician and PM in the Flemish parliament as representative for the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA). He is the magistrate of Planning, Culture and Education.

Political career

Between 1984 and 1994 Wilfried Vandaele was general secretary of the General-Dutch-Congress (ANC), a platform for communication between Dutch and Flemish associations and institutions. From 1987 to 1995 he was a member of the Commission for the Implementation of the Belgian- Dutch Cultural Convention. In early 1998 the then Prime Minister Van den Brande Vandaele asked him to accept the office of first General Secretary of the Commission for the new Cultural Conven-tion Flanders-Netherlands.He became councillor at the Executive Council of the City of De Haan in 2006. In 2009 he became a Flemish MP. He was the first MP from De Haan ever. In 2013 Wilfried Vandaele became community senator, succeeding Bart De Wever who became mayor of Ant-werp. In the senate Vandaele is an effective member of the Commission for the Interior and for Administrative Affairs and substitute member of the Committee for Foreign Affairs and the De-fence.

Education

He has a degree in German philology and Press and Communication Sciences from the University of Ghent.
