The United Nations Environment Program was founded in 1972 and is headquartered in Nairobi. It coordinates the UN’s environmental initiatives and aims to assist developing countries with implementing effective and [[Sustainability|sustainable]] environmental policies. UNEP covers a wide range of issues including renewable energy solutions, [[Air Pollution|air pollution]], clean water, the atmosphere, management of [[Ecosystem|ecosystems]], environmental governance and green economies. It also educates policy- makers and the public on environmental issues and promotes attitudes and [[values]] which are conducive to environmental sustainability.
