Tingyang, Zhao

Zhao Tingyang was born in 1961 in the South Chinese province of Guangdong. He received his PhD degree in philosophy from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, where he now also works as a researcher. Currently he also teaches at other renowned universities in China, such as Peking University and Tsinghua University. He has published many articles on topics such as political philosophy, epistemology, metaphilosophy and ethics. He is perhaps most well known for his works where he looks at the current international system from the viewpoint of the traditional Chinese universalist philosophical concept of “Tianxia” or “all under heaven”.
