Stefan Grüttner was born on the 25th of December 1956 in Wiesbaden. He is a member of the German Federal Council for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). He is also the Hessian Minister of State and the Hessian Minister of Social Affairs and Integration.

Political career[edit]

Before his political career, he was a research assistant in the field of Economic Policy at the University of Mainz between 1983 and 1986. Between 1986 and 1987 he was a keynote speaker at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Family and subsequently, he was the personal assistant of the Minister for Social and Family Affairs of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate between 1987 and 1991. Between 1991 and 1995 he served as a full-time Associate in the city of Offenbach. Since 1994 he has been the District Chairman of the CDU in Offenbach. From 1981 to 1991 he was the member of the city council of Wiesbaden. Since 1997 he has been a member of the city council of Offenbach. From 1999 to 2003 he served as the Parliamentary Secretary of the CDU parliamentary group. Between 2003 and 2010 he was the Minister of State in the Hessian State Chancellery with the duties of the Chief of the State Chancellery.

Education[edit]

Grüttner graduated from German secondary school in 1991 with the Abitur (A-Level). Between 1977 and 1983 he studied economics in Mainz.
