Richard Henry Ronald Benyon (born 21 October 1960) is a British Conservative Party politician. He has been the Member of Parliament for Newbury since 2005 and was a Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from May 2010 to October 2013.

Political Career

Richard Benyon was a local councillor in the 1990's and was elected as a Member of Parliament for Newbury in 2005 and re-elected in the 2010 General Elections. Benyon has served as Minister for the Natural Environment and Fisheries as part of the Conservative-Liberal Coalition Government until October 2013. Prior to this appointment he was the Shadow Minister for the Environment, Fisheries and Wildlife. He has also served as a Party Whip and on the Home Affairs Select Committee.

Education

Richard Benyon was educated at Bradfield College and the Royal Agricultural College.
