Welsh critic, novelist and academic. Williams work has formed the basis for much research in the field of [[Cultural Studies]] and [[Cultural Materialism]]. Publications include 'Culture and Society' (1958), 'The Long Revolution' (1961), and 'Marxism and Literature' (1977). His work greatly influenced cultural theorist [[Stuart Hall]]. After his death in 1988, the Raymond Williams Society was set up, and has since published 'Key Words: A Journal of Cultural Materialism'.
