Academic discipline examining the cultural legacies of colonization and imperialism. The discipline provides criticisms of mainstream post-colonial knowledge and perceptions by analysing the political and social power structures that enable the continuation of colonialism and neo-colonization. It also examines the identities of the colonized and colonizers. The aim of the discipline is to unearth and combat the remaining effects of colonization.
