Philippe Henry is a Belgian politician and senator from the party Ecolo, born in Charleroi on the 23rd of April 1971.

Political career[edit]

He joined Ecolo in 1997. He was elected regional and community member in 1999, where he re-mained until 2004. He is a city councillor in Sprimont and Political Director of Ecolo and in 2007 he became a Member of Parliament. On the 16th of July 2009, in government Demotte II., he became the Walloon Minister of Environ-ment, Spatial Planning, Mobility, Transportation and Abandoned Sites. He was reelected MP in the Walloon Parliament in 2014 and he also became a Senator.

Education[edit]

In 1995 he obtained a civil engineering degree from the University of Liège (ULg). Two years later he obtained a Masters degree in business management. During his studies at the university he was president of la Fédé, the student delegation of ULg. He was also president of the Federation of Francophone students in 1994-1995. This was a very turbulent year of strong student protests in Walloon Belgium due to plans to revise the higher education system.
