Peter Spencer Bowness, Baron Bowness is a British Conservative politician and has been a member of the House of Lords since 1996.

Political career[edit]

From 1968 to 1998 he was a member of Croydon Council and between 1976 and 1979 he was the leader of Croydon Council. From 1978 until 1980 he was deputy chairman of the Association of Metropolitan Authorities (AMA); between 1978 and 1984 he was the mayor of Croydon, later becoming the leader; from 1982 until 1994, he was the opposition leader of the Association of Metropolitan Authorities (AMA); since 2014 he has been the leader of OSCE.

Education[edit]

He studied at Whitgift School. He went on to study at the Law Society School of Law and College of Law. In 1966 he started his career as solicitor.
