An attempt to implement long term measures that try to reduce the risk of an area lapsing or relapsing into conflict. The range of measures attempt to strengthen national capabilities and aim to lay the foundation for sustainable peace and development. Peacebuilding addresses the deep-rooted and structural causes of conflict and ultimately attempts to enhance the capacity of the state to legitimately carry out its core duties in a peaceful way.
