| − | Politically Darabos first entered politics in 1987 as a member of the municipal council of Nikitch. He held this position until 2003. From 1988 to 1991 Darabos was country manager of Burgenland Renner Institute, 1991-1997 spokesman for Governor Karl Stix. Since 1998 he has held the position of Country Manager of the SPÖ Burgenland and in 1999 was a member of the Burgenland Landtag since May 19. From December 2000 to March 2003 Darabos was club chairman of the Social Democratic Party parliamentary clubs.
