Nicolas Alfonsi

Nicolas Alfonsi was born in 1936 and he is a member of the Senate of France, elected in 2001 for the constituency of South Corsica. He is the Vice-President of the European Democratic and Social Rally (Rassemblement démocratique et social européen, RDSE).

Political Career

Nicolas Alfonsi began his career as a politician in Corsica, where he was appointed mayor of the city of Piana. He has also been a member of the European Parliament. Representing the Radical Left Party, "Mouvement Radical de Gauche", he has been member of the National Assembly from 1973 to 1978, and again since 1981.

Nicolas Alfonsi is Vice President of the Commission of Laws, Legislation, Universal Suffrage, Regualtion and General Administration. He is a member of the Commission on European Affairs, member of the Committee on Parliamentary Deontology, and member of the Study Board on Sea and Coastline.
