Nicolas Alfonsi is a member of the Senate of France, elected in 2001 for the constituency of the department of South Corsica. He's the vice-president of the European Democratic and Social Rally (Rassemblement démocratique et social européen, RDSE).

Biography

He was born in 1936 and got his diploma of Higher Studies of Public Law and Diploma of the Paris Institute of Political Studies. He is advocate at the Paris Court of Appeal. Nicolas Alfonsi has started working as a politician in Corsica, where he was appointed mayor of the city of Piana. He has also been a member of the European Parliament. Within the Left Radical Party, "Mouvement Radical de Gauche", he has been member of the National Assembly from 1973 to 1978 and since 1981.
