Michael Gerdes, born May 23rd 1960 in Bottrop, is a German politician (SPD). In 2009 he was elected as a candidate for the constituency Recklinghausen Bottrop - III in the Bundestag.

Political Career[edit]

Gerdes joined the SPD in 1977 and later became a board member in the local SPD. In 1994, Gerdes was a member of the Bottrop city council. Later, he became vice-chairman of his faction. He is also a member of the Regional Council of the administrative district of Münster. In the 2009 federal election, he was elected into the parliament.

Education[edit]

Gerdes is a trained electrician.
