Meyrem Almaci (GROEN) Member of the Belgian Parliament

Meyrem Almaci (25 february 1976) is Belgian (Flemish) politician with Turkish origin and a member of the ecological party GROEN.

Political Career

Almaci has founded in 2000 the section of Agalev in her home place at that time Sint-Gillis-Waas and she became councillor in the same year. She is the spokesperson of Jong Groen! since 2005. 2006 she moved to Berchem, where she has become district Councillor. Meyrem Almaci has been a member of Parliament since June 2007.

Education

Meyrem Almaci has a degree in Moral Sciences and is a master in Comparative Cultural Studies. She has worked as a scientific worker in research projects at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the K.U. Leuven as from 2002 about study choices and the study success of immigrants in higher studies.
