Matej Tašner Vatovec (born February 6, 1983) is a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and the Deputy Head of the United Left Deputy Group (Slovenian: Združena levica).

Political Career[edit]

He was elected to the National Assembly in 2014.

Professional Career[edit]

In the years 2003–2005, he held the position of the Secretary at Student Organisation of the University of Primorska. From 2008 till 2010 he worked as a translator. In 2010, he took over the position of a Teaching Assistant at Faculty of Humanities at the University of Primorska where he stayed until 2013. At the same time, between 2010 and 2014 he was also a Researcher at the Science and Research Centre of the University of Primorska.

Education[edit]

Tašner Vatovec graduated in cultural studies and social anthropology in 2006 and obtained PhD of Science in 2014.
