Master Kong (551 BC-479 BC)

Literal translation of ‘Confucius’. Confucius was a prominent Chinese philosopher and educator, who developed one of the main foundations of classical Chinese thought. The teachings of Confucius (or Master Kong) have come to be known as ‘Confucianism’. His doctrines were compiled after his death under the title, The Analects of Confucius (see Confucius).
