María Ascensión Figueres Górriz, born in Nules (Castellón) on the 1st July of 1962, is a Spanish national deputy elected for the constituency of Castellón (Valencia) in the 10th term. She is a member of People’s Party (PP).

Political Career[edit]

María Ascensión Figueres Górriz was elected as national deputy for the first time in the current term. She is acting as deputy spokesman of the Culture Commission. She is also member of the Mixed Commission for the relations with the Auditors Court and of the Mixed Commission for the relation with the Ombudsman. María Ascensión Figueres is also acting as member of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Commission and the Commission of Industry, Energy and Tourism. Before becoming a national deputy, María Ascensión Figueres had also been a regional deputy (1995-1999) in the Valencia Parliament and before that as councillor of the city of Nules (1987-1995). It is also notable that in her political career that she was the Deputy General Secretary of Education and Culture of the Valencia regional government (1999-2001). Nowadays María Ascensión Figueres is also the President of the Valencian Academy of Language.

Education[edit]

María Ascensión Figueres holds a degree in Spanish Philology and another degree in Law. She also has a MA in Toponymy and Onomastics of the Valencian Language.
