Malu Dreyer was born on the 6th of February 1961 in Neustadt. She has been a member of the German Federal Council for the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since 2013. She is the First Minister of Rheinland-Pfalz.

Political career

Dreyer was a Deputy Member of the Federal Council from both 2002 to 2006 and from 2011 to 2013. She was previously a member of the Federal Council from 2006 to 2011. She was also the mayor of Bad Kreuznach and a city councillor for Social Affairs, Youth and living in the city of Mainz. Since 2000, she has been the chairman of the National Prevention Council. From 2002 to 2006 she was a Minister of State, Minister of Labour, Social Affairs, Family and Health. Between 2006 and 2011 she was a Minister of State, Minister of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Family and Women. Subsequently, she was a Minister of State, Minister of Social Affairs, Labour, Health and Demography till 2013.

Education

Dreyer graduated from German secondary school in 1980 with the Abitur (A-Level). Subsequently, she studied theology and English language and literature. From 1981 she studied law in Mainz. From 1989 to 1991 she was a scientific assistant at the University of Mainz.
