Lord Woolmer of Leeds

Lord Woolmer of Leeds is a Labour member of the House of Lords. He joined the House of Lords in August 1999 and most recently sat on the Personal Service Companies Committee.

Political Career

Lord Woolmer began his political career as MP for the constituency for Batley and Morley in 1979. He held this seat until 1983. During his tenure as a member of the House of Commons he was a member of the Treasury and Civil Service Committee until 1982. Since joining the House of Lords he has been a member of the EU Sub-Committee on Internal Market, Energy and Transport; the European Union Committee; the Joint Committee on the Draft Climate Change Bill; the EU Sub-Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs, and International Trade; and the Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee.

Notable Work

In 1991 Lord Woolmer became the Director of MBA Programmes for Leeds University. He later became Dean of the School of Business and Economic Studies. He has also been a non-executive director of Thornfield Developments Ltd from 1999 to 2002.
