Derek Ezra was born on the 23rd February 1919 and sits in the House of Lords as a Liberal Democrat life peer.

Political Career[edit]

Ezra was made a peer on the 2nd February 1983, receiving the title Baron Ezra, of Horsham in the County of West Sussex. During his time in parliament he was placed on a number of committees. From 1984-86 he was on the Overseas Trade Committee. He has also served on the EU Sub-committee’s for ‘Home Affairs’ and ‘Internal Market, Energy and Transport’. The last committee he served on was the ‘Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England’ from 1998-99. He was the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Energy Matters from 1998-2005.

Education[edit]

Ezra studied at Cambridge University where he first became a member of the university Liberal Club. He is an Honorary Fellow of Magdalene College, Cambridge.

Notable Work[edit]

Ezra serves as Vice President of the ‘British Standards Institution’, ‘Institute of Management’, and the ‘Institute of Trading Standards’. The Combustion Engineering Association gives the Derrick Ezra Award for ‘outstanding achievement in the study of combustion engineering’.
