Lord De Mauley

Rupert Ponsonby was born on the 30th June 1957. He is a hereditary peer and member of the Conservative Party.

Political Career

Lord De Mauley entered the House of Lords on the 10th March 2005 due to the fact he was declared the winner of a by-election for the Conservative hereditary peers seat in the House of Lords. His current role is as the Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. His previous position was as the Shadow Minister for Children, Schools & Families and Energy and Climate Change from 2008-2009.

He then served as an opposition whip from 2009-2010. During his time as a Lord he has served on two Committees. From 2010-2012 he was a member of the Joint Committee on Security and in 2011 he served on the committee for the Consumer Insurance Bill.

Education

Rupert Ponsonby was educated at Eton College.
