Lord Brookman

David Keith Brookman was born on the 3rd January 1937. He is a British Steel Worker and Trade Unionist.

Political Career[edit]

In June 1998, he was made a life peer and became Baron Brookman of Ebbw Vale in the County of Gwent in which he represents the Labour Party. His main political interests include employment law and manufacturing. In his political career has been a member of a number of party groups. He was a member of the Labour Party Executive Committee for Wales from 1982-1985 and the National Constitutional Committee from 1987 to 1991.

He then went on to become a member of the National Executive Committee from 1991-1992. Between, 1993 and 2002, he was a member of the European Coal and Steel Community Consultative Committee.

Education[edit]

Brookman was educated at Nantyglo Grammar School.

Notable Work[edit]

In 1980, Brookman was made governor of the Gwent College of Higher Education, a position which he held until 1984. In 2001 he was made President of the Welsh Trust for Prevention of Abuse.
