Jamie Reed

Jamie Reed MP is the Member of Parliament for Copeland and Shadow Minister for Health. He was born in 1973 in Whitehaven, Cumbria.

Political Career

In May 2005 he entered Parliament and served on two select committees: the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, and the Regulatory Reform Committee. In October 2008 Jamie was appointed Deputy Regional Minister for the North West. In October 2009 he became a member of the Child Poverty Bill Committee and 4 months later became a member of the Flood and Water Management Bill Committee.

He was successfully re-elected and was appointed Shadow Environment Minister before being reshuffled to Shadow Health Minister in 2011.

Jamie has also served as Chair of the APPG (All-party parliamentary group) on Digital TV Switchover and is the Chair of the APPG on Antibiotics.

Education

He attended Whitehaven School, before completing a BA in English at Manchester and an MA in Mass Communications at Leicester.
