She has been a lawyer for ten years in Ialomita, Romania and then Bucharest, Romania. In 1996 she becomes the judge of the Municipality Court of Bucharest. In the same time she worked as The Chief for the European Court of Human Rights. After two years she was promoted as the Director of the Gouvernamental Office  for European Court of Human Rights and European Integration between 1999 and 2002. For the next two years she occupies the positition as State Secretary of Justice.

In September 2013, the President of Romania advanced the nomination of Iulia-Cristina Tarcea as Vice-President of the High Court of Cassation and Justice Romania with unanimous backing from Romanian judges.
