Heleen Dupuis was born on the 30th of May 1945 in Rotterdam. She is a member of the Dutch Senate for the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). She is an emeritus professor in medical ethics at the University of Leiden.

Political career[edit]

Between 1970 and 1977, she worked as a teacher. Between 1977 and 1987 she worked as a scientific employee in ethics and medicine at the University of Leiden. Between 1986 and 2003 she worked as a professor in medical ethics at the University of Leiden. In addition to her career, she was a member of various different commissions of the VVD.

Education[edit]

Dupuis studied theology and Dutch law at the University of Leiden. In 1976, she obtained her doctorate in theology at the University of Leiden.

Interesting facts[edit]

In 1991, she bestowed the medal of honor ‘ La vertu’.
