Hélène Ryckmans was born on 20 May 1959 in Waterloo (Belgium). She is a member of the Belgian Senate. Ryckmans is the Community Senator for the Walloon Green Party (Ecolo).

Political Career

She started her political career as a councillor in Chastre and in the province of Waals Brabant during the period of 2003-2006. After the regional and national elections on May 25th 2014, she became a member of the Walloon Parliament, the Parliament of the French Community, and went on to be appointed Community Senator in the Belgian Senate for the Walloon Greens (Ecolo).

Education

She graduated in sociology of development from UCL, followed by a position as a research assistant at the department of population studies and development.
