Esther-Mirjam Sent (PvdA)

Esther-Mirjam Sent (born on March 9th, 1967 in Doesburg) is a member of the Dutch Senate for the Labour Party (PvdA). Sent also works as a professor in Economic Theory and Economic Policy at the Radboud University Nijmegen.

Political Career

Since 2011 Esther-Mirjam Sent has been a member of the Dutch Senate. From 2009 until 2011 she was a member for the Raad voor Maatschappelijke Ontwikkeling (RMO). From 2007 until 2012 she was the Chair of the Department of Economics of the Raboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands.

Education

From 1985 until 1989, Esther-Mirjam Sent studied economics at the University of Amsterdam (cum laude).

Special Achievements

Esther-Mirjam Sent got many awards. In 2011, 2010 and 2009 she got the Duynstee Award for Media Presence. She got the Kaneb Teaching Award in 2002. In the same year she also got the Thomas P. Madden Award for Outstanding Teaching of First Year Students. In 1999 she got the Gunnar Myrdal Prize for the best monograph on a theme in accord with the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE) Theoretical Perspectives. In 1995 Sent got the Joseph Dorfman Best Dissertation Award for the Best Dissertation in History of Economic Thought. In both 1992 and 1993 she got the Stanford University Centennial Teaching Assistant Award, in 1991 and 1992 the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.
