Establishment of The European Court of Human Rights

The Court was established in Strasbourg under the 1950 European Convention on Human Rights in order to monitor respect of human rights by states. All member states of the Council of Europe are parties to the Convention can be therefore brought before the Court by other states, other parties or individuals for human rights violations.
