Sir Edward Henry Garnier was born on 26th of October 1952 in Wuppertal, West Germany. He is a barrister and Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom. He has been an MP representing the constituency of Harborough in Leicestershire since 1992. He is married and has 3 children.

Education[edit]

Edward Garnier was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire and went on to study at Jesus College, Oxford, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern History in 1974. He then went on to achieve an MA from the College of Law at City University London.

Political Career[edit]

He was elected to parliament for at the 1992 general election. In parliament, he served on the Home Affairs Select Committee from 1992 until he was appointed as the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Alastair Goodlad and David Davis, in 1994. In 2009, he was elected as chairman for the newly formed All-Party Parliamentary Group on Privacy.
