Christine Defraigne was born on 29 April 1962 in Luik (Belgium). She is a member of the Belgian Senate, holding the position of Community Senator, after being appointed by the Walloon Parliament for the Walloon Liberal Party (MR).

Political Career

Christine Defraigne started her political career in Liège as councillor between 1989 and 1994. In 2001, she became councillor of Liège again. She is a member of the Parliament of the French Community and of the Walloon Parliament since 1999. She led the Walloon liberals (MR) in the Belgian Senate from 2003 to 2009. She has been Community Senator for the MR since 2003 appointed by the Walloon Parliament.

Education

She graduated in law from the University of Liège.
