Bob Ruers

Bob Ruers was born on the 24th of May 1947 in Sittard. He has been a member of the Dutch Senate for the Socialist Party (SP) since 2011.

Political career

Before his political career, he was a jurist, attorney and lawyer. Between 1986 and 2001 he was a member of the city council of Utrecht for the SP and between 1998 and 2003 and between 2006 and 2007 he was a member of the Senate. In his first term, he was the chairman of the SP-fraction in the Senate.

Education

Ruers studied law at the University of Utrecht between 1966 and 1973. In 2012 he received his doctorate in law at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
