Anthony Giddens, born in Edmonton, North London, was the first member of his family to attend college. He is a professor of Sociology and has taught at the University of Leicester and subsequently at Cambridge.
Academic Career
Professor Giddens was the Director of the LSE from 1997 to 2003. He took part in the original Blair-Clinton dialogues from 1997 and onwards. In 1999, he was the BBC Reith Lecturer and is currently a Life Fellow of King’s College in Cambridge. Professor Giddens was made a Life Peer in 2004 and is a fellow of the American Academy of Science and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Achievements
