Anke Van dermeersch

Anke Maria Flor Van dermeersch, born in Antwerp on October 27, 1972, is a Belgian Flemish-Nationalist politician, senator, former lawyer-tax consultant and former Miss Belgium. Anke Van dermeersch holds a seat since 2003 in the Senate for Vlaams Blok, and since November 14, 2004 - after the name change - for Vlaams Belang.

Political Career[edit]

Anke Van dermeersch was elected Senator in 2003 and is local councilor since 2007. In addition, she is a member of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Finance; member of the Working Group "Space"; member of the Working Group "Information Technology and Liberties"; substitute member of the Committee on Institutional Affairs; deputy commissioner for External Relations and the National Defense, substitute member of the Committee on Justice and finally she is the Vlaams Belang party leader (since fall 2011).

Notable works[edit]

Van dermeersch is a former Fashion model. She was crowned Miss Belgium in 1991 and was the 5th runner-up during the 1992 Miss Universe pageant. In addition, she is a former lawyer and specialist of international tax law at Antwerp Bar.
